Dr. Dewar has over 40 years experience in agricultural entomological research in institutes within the BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council) including the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research, Rothamsted Research and Brooms Barn Research Centre. His research includes the ecology and forecasting of cereal aphids, plus extensive work on pest control in sugar beet for which he has a worldwide reputation. He has been involved in developing most of the currently successful pest control measures used by UK sugar beet growers, including seed treatments, nematicides, and foliar sprays.
